Web Design

Seasons

This website was the first hand-coded website I created in my New Media courses. For this project, I used simple HTML and inline styling to create four web pages representing each of the four seasons. To do this, I utilized typography, color theory, and ASCII art. I chose background and text colors that represented each season and then created an ASCII art landscape. I enjoyed designing this project and building upon my technical skills at the time. This piece was coded using the simple text editor Brackets.

Santa’s Workshop

This hand-coded website was created as a team project and guides the user through an analog horror Christmas-themed experience. For this project, I was tasked with designing the website and coding it. I used HTML, CSS, and Javascript to create the website. My first step was designing the pages, and I created mockups of each one in Adobe Illustrator. Once it was time to code, I used the program Brackets. I started by creating the navigation bar and building the file structure and then moved on to individually implementing each webpage. My teammates for this project created the art and video assets. I was able to learn a lot from this project and code many features that were new to me, learning and researching through the process.

Your Adventure

This hand-coded website utilized a simple user interface to allow the viewer to experience their own fantasy adventure. This website was created using HTML and CSS. I wanted to combine my programming skills with my love for narrative-driven games. I started by writing the script for my story, and developing the choices and flow for it. I used a chart to keep track of player choices, and how they would change the overall narrative. Once this was done, I designed the website’s interface and began coding it. I created many HTML pages and inserted the divided script and choices into their own pages. By clicking a choice, the viewer is directed to a new HTML page, thus continuing their adventure.
