Not My Responsibility
For this piece, I created a live video performance using the program Max 360. I aimed to create a piece discussing feminism and body positivity. I wanted to challenge society’s view of what being feminine means. To do this, I first selected an audio track for the piece. I chose Not My Responsibility by Billie Eilish. I then went out and searched for videos of women that meshed well with the audio. I wanted videos that showed women reacting to the expectations society placed upon them. I wanted to create a haunting, dreamlike experience. Next, I created a Max patch that was audio-reactive, and blurred the visuals based on the level of the audio. The patch also chose what video clips to play randomly, leading to a video performance that changes with every viewing

A Hamster’s Adventure
This storyboard was created as an animatic for an original narrative that I wrote. The narrative is relatively simple, inspired by a pet hamster I had in high school. Hamsters are quite the little escape artists, and this storyboard follows one such hamster on his journey after escaping his enclosure. I first wrote the script for the storyboard, noting down the sequence of events and how they would be represented visually. I tried to pay close attention to shot composition and clarity of visual storytelling throughout this process. After the script was completed, I drew each panel of my storyboard using Procreate. This was my first project utilizing the Procreate software.

Floppy the Frog
This story beat board was created to succinctly convey a narrative visually. I created this storyboard while learning the art of frame-based ideation and storytelling, and it helped me improve my skills greatly. I knew I wanted to create a storyboard with around eight panels when approaching this work. I started by writing down my main story beats. I wanted to tell a story that showed the importance of connections between individuals- and how those connections can come from unexpected places. I chose to use frogs for this because I’ve loved them since I was a child, and because I felt it would be easier to convey my message using animals rather than humans. After I wrote my script, I began work on my storyboard. Using Photoshop and a drawing tablet, I illustrated the panels.

Wolf Puppet
This paper puppet was created for my first animated short, A Midnight Stroll. I first sketched the wolf puppet with pencil and paper. I then converted the design into digital with Adobe Illustrator. Once all the pieces for the puppet were colored and laid out in the document, I printed the puppet on card stock. Once the puppet was printed, I cut out each of its pieces and connected themwith pins. The areas pinned together were determined by the points at which the puppet would move. I then used the puppet to create stop-motion animations.

Howl’s Poster
This movie poster was one of my earliest New Media pieces and was created using Adobe Photoshop. For this design, I aimed to create a poster utilizing mostly typography. I also focused on color for this piece. The result is inspired by the animated film Howl’s Moving Castle. This project was overseen by my mentor Ashe Cosette, and her feedback helped me greatly through its design.
